We have recently moved into the Digital SLR world and have been taking classes and attending seminars to learn to shoot better photos. Our photos are grouped by category on the right side of the page. Please take a few minutes and view them. Feel free to leave comments on how we are doing.
As members of two local photography clubs, The Trinity Arts Photo Club in Bedford and the Bob Jones Nature Center Camera Club in Southlake, we are building new friendships and receiving some needed constructive criticism on our photos. We may never be professional photographers but we are getting better with every picture we take.
The Trinity Arts Photo Club has a monthly competition for its members. There is a set topic each month and we try to always submit photos. These are judged by a professional photographer and their critique is given at the monthly meeting. Currently, we are in the Beginner group. Awards are given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention. Each award carries with it a certain number of points and once enough points have been accumulated, that photographer will move from the Beginner group to the Advanced group. Not that she wants to or feels ready but Lynne will be moving to the Advanced group in January 2012.
The Bob Jones Nature Center Camera Club is a little less formal and meets twice monthly. Our first meeting of the month is a critique session of photos that members have submitted. Usually, these are photos that were taken at one or more of the BJNC field trips. The second meeting discusses different topics, ie. indoor and outdoor lighting, HDR processing, etc. We are learning lots of new techniques and are trying to put some of them into practice.
We do not have a lot of knowledge yet when it comes to post-processing our photos. Currently, we pretty much just hit the "auto adjust" button and that's a good start. But there is so much more you can do with photos today with the right software. With that being said, we have been taking some classes at Tarrant County College as well as some short seminars here and there.
We hope you enjoy viewing our photos. Just click the links to the Pages on the right side of the page.
If photos just aren't quite enough for you, there is a link to Our Cycling Blog on the right side of the page listed under Links We Like. Check it out if you have time.
